Up-to-date as of March 2014.
Here's a list of the chronological order of Hellboy/BRPD/Witchfinder/Abe Sapien/Lobster Johnson stories. Things are listed in terms of the bulk of the story -- that is, if something occurs in 2008 but has a flashback to 1948, it will still be listed as if it takes place in 2008, but if the majority of the story is told in a flashback, it will be listed under that time. (ex. Hellboy versus the Atzec Mummy and Hellboy in Mexico have frame stories in the 80s but the majority of the tale is in the 50s, so they are listed in the 50s. The Transformation of J.H. O'Donnell is listed according to its frame story because I felt like it flows better that way.)
Works to be included: Comics and Christopher Golden novels. Stories from "Weird Tales," "Odd Jobs," and other novels are not considered canon. Basically anything listed in the Hellboy Companion is gonna be on this list.
This is not recommended for new readers to the Hellboy universe, and is more for the purposes of re-reading. New readers should probably read them in this suggested order, but if you want to read them this way for whatever reason the first time through, at the very least you should read Seed Of Destruction first.
