[Wow, relax. If there'd been anything bad in her conversation with Kida, she wouldn't sound nearly as calm as she does now. Also she's just gonna go ahead and answer that question anyway.]
She said that she was happy. I told her it took long enough. [And then, softer:] I'm glad.
[Hellboy and Kida are two of her closest friends in ALASTAIR, after all. Her two best friends, if she's honest.]
[He's less worried about bad things and more concerned about embarrassing things. (He doesn't know what women talk about together, alright.) But okay. That's innocuous enough.]
Ha. Well. I'm glad, too. [He pauses for just a second. It's easier for him to talk with women about this sort of thing, and Riza is his best friend here, besides.] I know it's not forever, but I'm trying not to think too hard about the future.
[That much is obvious - Kida's always made her love for her people clear. Anyone who knows her knows that. What's less clear are Hellboy's feelings on the matter.]
Would you want to go back with her?
[They haven't even been here all that long, relatively speaking. Perhaps it's too early to think about such things.]
Well. She's a princess, so she'll need to get married to someone who's interested in that kind of thing. [The implication being that Hellboy does not really consider himself king material. Or marriage material, for that matter.]
I don't want to make things complicated for her, so probably not.
[It's less a question than it is a statement. She can't really fault him if he isn't - and he certainly doesn't seem the type to enjoy pomp and circumstance, not to mention thousands of lives all hinging on the success (or failure) of his decisions.]
[He doesn't respond right away, which should be enough of an answer, really. It's not something he likes talking about, his own royal blood, because it's the same blood that makes him a demon. Eventually, he answers her question with a question, which isn't great etiquette, but he doesn't know how else to explain himself.]
You know I'm not human, right? I mean, you never assumed I was human.
[She hadn't and he'd never corrected her assumption, though perhaps he'd simply been trying to be polite. (Though she can't see how he would be human, or at the very least 100% human.)
Slowly:]
Does not being human impact whether or not you can be a king?
In Atlantis, I don't know. We never really talked about that. [There's also the matter of him not actually knowing if he can father children?? But that's not important, since that's not what this is about.]
I was raised by humans. But my... blood father. Was royalty, apparently. [Prince of Sheol, Duke of Hell, Lord over the witches of Lancashire and Abbotsbury --] Also, a monster. So kingship is not exactly footsteps I'm itching to follow.
this tag is upsetting given lune's impending drop >:c
[Please. Anything is possible with the power of the romantic bang. But again, that's not what this is about.
Hellboy's never told her much about his personal life - and she's never asked, more than happy to uphold the unspoken rule of 'do unto other as you would have them do unto you' - so the news comes as a definite surprise. Hellboy, a prince in his own right.
It'd be grounds for more teasing, if this conversation hadn't turned serious so quickly. Still, she can't help but comment on it, her voice lifting just a notch.]
So I take it you don't like being called Lord Hellboy.
[Alright, she's done, moving on. She's starting to feel uncomfortable prying any deeper so she takes a step back.]
But I hope you and Kida enjoy the time you two have here.
[However long that lasts, and regardless of what might come of it.]
me too, that's why it took me so long to tag this back
[LORD HELLBOY... no...... thank you. Technically it would be Lord something else, anyway, but he's not about to give anyone his true name. Even people he trusts implicitly, like Riza. It's not a safe thing to throw around.]
That's what I'm trying to do, anyway. One day at a time.

Kida and Hellboy are a good match for each other, insofar as she can tell, but they are all in a vacuum of sorts here.]
What's going to happen if we ever get the chance to leave, you mean?
no subject
She's definitely going back to Atlantis and her people, I know that.
